The Funny One
Event Description
Second Life Supply brings creative reuse to the greater Charleston area. We divert unwanted materials and equipment from landfills in order to provide supplies at low cost to our local communities. Through our events and educational outreach, we offer hands-on opportunities so everyone can experience the joy of creative reuse in an inclusive, safe space.
For “The Funny One”, as well as our previous and future Second Life Art Shows, the accepted artists get together for a supply swap. Around 5 months before each show, each of the artists are asked to bring a bag or box full of gently-used or unwanted art supplies to the gathering. They take part in a “White Elephant” style swap. Whatever supplies the artists end up with, they must use in their piece(s) for the show! This not only brings the artists out of their comfort zone, but also shows collectors that art can be made from anything. Sustainability is cool!
Second Life Supply is a registered 501(c)(3). We are currently accepting donations in the form of arts/crafts supplies, as well as monetary donations. Our goal is to bring a creative reuse storefront to the Charleston area within a couple years. Please follow us on our socials to find out where we will be popping up until then. Thank you for your support!
